US Senate Advances Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill with $500B in New Spending
The Senate approved the measure in a rare show of bipartisan support, paving the way for the largest federal infrastructure investment since the Interstate Highway System.
Washington D.C. — The United States Senate advanced a landmark bipartisan infrastructure package Thursday that would funnel $500 billion into roads, bridges, broadband internet, and the country's aging water systems.
The bill passed 67–32, with 15 Republican senators joining all Democrats in support. The package is now headed to the House, where progressive members have signaled they want more aggressive climate provisions included.
